Day 01: Guwahati - Manas National Park (180 Km/4hrs)
Arrive Guwahati. Meet and transfer to Manas National Park. If time permits,
go for nature walk or jeep safari.
Manas National Park, a World Heritage site declared by UNESCO in 1985 and a
Project Tiger Reserve, is located at the base of foothills of the Bhutan Himalayas
in the state of Assam. With a core area of over 500 squire kilometers it offers
great scenic beauty as well as a vast wealth of flora and fauna. Dinner and
overnight.
Day 02: Manas National Park
Today early morning we will go for Elephant Safari for about an hour. Afterwards
we will be back at the Lodge for breakfast. After this we will enter the National
Park again for a Jeep Safari. We will get off the vehicles at Mathanguri on
the banks of the river Manas and to enjoy the great scenic beauty and a cup
of refreshing Assam Tea. From here we will take a boat ride down the river disembarking
near our lodge, on the way look out for wild animals on the banks and birds.
As we get down we can see Elephant bathing and feeding on the banks of the river.
Walk backa short distance to the Lodge for lunch. After lunch set out once again
on open jeeps through the park. Around dusk we will start driving back to our
Lodge with our naturalists holding
search lights in the dark looking for bisons, sambar and perhaps the tiger.
Dinner and overnight.
Day
03: Manas National Park
Morning go for another jeep safari up to Uchila and Doimari, then perhaps
to Kokilabari sometimes through dense forest. This area is good for big mammals
and birds. Look out for the rare Bengal Florican, which has been spotted here
on certain occasions. Packed lunch will be provided as this is a whole day excursion.
Return to lodge in the evening. Dinner and overnight.
Day 04: Manas National Park - Kaziranga National Park (400 km/ 8 hrs)
Early morning transfer to Kaziranga National Park, home to the famed one horned
rhino. Lunch will be at Guwahati on the way. On arrival check in to Lodge.
Dinner and overnight.
Day 05: Kaziranga National Park
Early morning we will see the National Park (Central range) on elephant back.
Apart from the Rhino, other species found are hog deer, swamp deer, wild buffalo,
elephants and if you are lucky, the tiger. It is virtually a paradise for
bird watchers, with a variety of migratory and resident birds. It is also
home to pelicans, storks and darters as there are a number of water bodies
inside the Park. We will return to the resort for breakfast. Afternoon, go
inside the park on jeep in the western range good for water birds and big
mammals. Dinner and overnight.
Day
06: Kaziranga National Park
After breakfast go inside the park for another jeep safari in the central range.
After that take a nature walk in the Panbari area looking for Hoolock Gibbon,
the only ape found in India. Come back for lunch. Afternoon jeep safari in the
eastern range. Dinner and overnight.
Day 07: Kaziranga -Guwahati airport ( 220km/ 5 hrs)
Morning transfer to Guwahati airport in time to board for onward destination.
