Thousands of artisans were employed and no cost spared to creat this glorious moument which strongly reflects the imagery of paradise. The large marble dome represents the vault of heaven, the square platform upon which it rests the material universe and the octagonal towers the transition phase. The tomb has been lavishly ornamented with calligraphy which includes verses from the quran the pristine purity of the white marble glimmers and is clearly reflected in the canals reminiscent of paradise.

Day 04: Agra - Jaipur
Agra/Jaipur morning, drive to jaipur [about 6 hrs drive] via fatehpur sikri- the greatest architectural achievement of Akbar was his dream city atop the ridge at sikri. The emperor's tribute to the sufi saint, Sheikh Salim Chisti, emperor Akbar and his queen, Jodhabai made a pilgrimage to sikri to seek the blessings of the same when the emperor was childless. With the blessing of Salim Chisti, three sons were born to Akbar. He named his first born Salim after the saint, in 1571, Akbar built his magnificent capital and embellished it with palaces. The mosque was the first structure to be built in the courtyard is the tomb of Salim chist, an exquisite structure in marble with gorgeous ornamentation. Fatehpur sikri was akbar s imperial capital for fifteen years though agra remained the military stronghold, sikri was his personal dream, his artstisc and intellectual center. Thereafter , proced for Jaipur [about 6 hrs drive] and on arrival transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 05: Jaipur
Jaipur morning, excursion to amber fort, the most exquisite fort of all was built by Raja Mansingh, a total contrast to the earlier forts of Jaigarh and Nahargarh. The fort is located very strategically, surrounded by a circle of hills forming a protective cover no enemy could approach the fort without being seen. At the entrance is the grand gateway, the ganesh pol, exquisitely carved and painted with frescoes - in a distinctly mughal styel of decoration . The gateway leads to the hall of public audience with its cooling pools and cascades and a hall of mirrors which was the envy of the mughals. The halls are decorated with mirrors. The nerve center of jaipur is the city palace- the largest structure in the city built by Sawai Jai Singh. Visit hawa mahal - the best known example pf fanciful architecture.

Jaipur, in fact, came to be known as the pink city when Sawai Ram Singh spruced it up to welcome the prince of wales in 1876, he painted all the buildings pink, giving the royal city a romantic, delicate and fragile appearance in keeping with its fairy tale image.
